Hello, and welcome to my portfolio! I am Michaela Hart, the Philadelphia-based creative behind the illustrations and printmaking projects you'll find here. Being an avid reader gave me my current love for all things fantasy, and it only grew larger after I realized I was a lesbian. Figuring out who I was as a person opened up even more social and historical inspiration, and growing up surrounded by the Pine Barrens instilled in me a deep love for both nature and everything strange.
I recently earned my BFA in illustration and Print Media from the University of the Arts in 2024. My current concentrations include relief prints, fantasy illustration, and book cover and interior design.
As of 2026, I founded a passion project with six of my UArts alumni colleagues, which we are calling The Matchbox Collective. Ever since our university closed unexpectedly, the collaborative and postgraduate opportunities they had promised us have disappeared along with it. Located in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, we plan to host art gatherings, shows, and openings for other artists and art lovers to support the students that UArts left behind. If you are a local artist interested in securing a studio space in the Matchbox, please let us know! Follow our Instagram for more details, posts, and updates coming soon.
